Feldmeier Equipment Enhances Onondaga County Partnership and Expands Community Impact
Over the decades, Feldmeier Equipment, Inc. has proven to be a cornerstone of advanced manufacturing in Ononodaga County as strong as the steel it works with. As a world-leading manufacturer of essential sanitary vessels for industries like food, dairy, beverage and pharmaceuticals, Feldmeier has not only embraced innovation but has also advanced its commitment to Central New York to stay ahead.

“Feldmeier’s flown under the radar for many years – people don’t really realize what we do and what we’re all about,” Feldmeier Board of Directors Advisor Dave Pollock said. “But we’re proud to be the largest sanitary vessel manufacturer in the Western Hemisphere.”
And the company founded in 1952 isn’t slowing down. With an impressive 82,000-square-foot expansion to its Syracuse facility, Feldmeier is setting the stage for enhanced production capabilities expanding its workforce of 140.
But, Feldmeier’s decision to expand in its home base of Syracuse was not automatic. The company had been considering its Iowa location for the expansion. That’s when the Onondaga County leadership stepped in.
“We made this decision to do it here primarily because of the political climate that (County Executive) Ryan McMahon brings and the positive nature that he brings toward business,” Pollock said. “OCIDA’s team was insightful, walked us through the process, made it seamless and easy for us to go take advantage of the opportunities to make this project mutually beneficial and profitable for us.”
Beyond its industrial triumphs, Feldmeier’s growth symbolizes a broader economic resurgence for Onondaga County. The addition of high-paying jobs, investment in automation and a commitment to staying local amplify the region’s reputation as a competitive destination for business.

“We believe that we are really well positioned in advanced manufacturing that this should be the place in North America where we make things,” Onondaga County Executive J. Ryan McMahon II said. “If you look at where we are logistically – our infrastructure, water, land and workforce assets that we have here – this is another case study of why that pitch that we’re making to companies is true.”

Moreover, this expansion aligns with OCIDA’s mission to attract and retain businesses that will strengthen the local economy. With projects like this, the agency is fostering a thriving ecosystem that benefits not only businesses but also the people who live and work in the area.

“This is where our families are, this is where our kids live,” Feldmeier President & CEO Colby Clark said. “We want to stay here. We want to help change the narrative and show that this is a great place to invest and grow.”
For Onondaga County, Feldmeier’s expansion strengthens its status as a leader in advanced manufacturing. From leveraging the region’s unique assets to creating an environment that champions innovation, this project underscores the potential of strategic partnerships.

With its latest expansion, Feldmeier is not only strengthening its legacy but also paving the way for others to see Onondaga County and Central New York as the ideal base to build on.
“Why not in Syracuse? Why not in Onondaga County? There’s no better place to be,” Clark said.
